Edgar Rauch, an occupational trainee from Switzerland, investigated possibilities to reduce the amount of ammonia vapour in the hydrogen/nitrogen gas feed for the exothermic ammonia synthesis reactor. By that means, the reaction in the heat recovery system starts farther away from its equilibrium point, thereby increasing the amount of thermal energy that is released.
