Postgraduate Study at the Department of Engineering
The ANU was ranked by the prestigious AsiaWeek magazine in 1999 as first in the Asia/Australian region for research output, and in 2000, in the top 10 multidisciplinary universities in the region, and first overall in Australia.
The Department of Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology demonstrates the commitment of ANU to excellence in education and research in engineering and information technology through its undergraduate and graduate programs. The interdisciplinary nature of these programs, along with a broad research base within the faculty has allowed a rich, dynamic working environment to flourish. The staff in the Department of Engineering are internationally active researchers and many are leaders in their fields, with substantial publications and research grants. World-class research is carried out in collaboration with partners from industry and government. The Faculty has attracted major funding from leading engineering and IT organisations that include Ford Australia, Rio Tinto, Telstra, Fujitsu Ltd and Sun Microsystems.
The participation of the Research School of Information Science and Engineering (RSISE) and the Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering (RSPSE) in the Institue of Advanced Studies, and the new National Information and Communication Technology Centre of Excellence of Australia (NICTA), together with the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) bring an exceptional level of resources and a broad range of research opportunities to the Graduate Program in Engineering.
